Six IRC workers who travel by four-wheel drive and operate out of one mud and straw hut are set to provide just about the only medical services most communities around war-devastated Gokmachar have seen in a decade. The region is an entry point for many south Sudanese who sought refuge in the northern part of the country during 20 years of civil conflict.

At the Gokmachar clinic, IRC health officer Simon Kuot treats a baby who has been diagnosed with malaria.
