A Taste of Home for the Holidays
Photo: International Rescue Committee

From Louisiana native Lisa David, now the IRC's regional resettlement director in Dallas:

The IRC recently invited Hurricane Katrina evacuees who have relocated to Dallas to a holiday 'gumbo party.' Gumbo is a soup-like dish traditional in Louisiana and particularly popular in the winter months. The evacuees enjoyed the taste of home, visited with the IRC's Dallas staff and were able to take home donated holiday gifts.

Inyia, 1-1/2 years old, enjoyed the gift of a new ball.
